Chillers and air handling for data centers

Let us explore the chilled water cooling and air handling your technology infrastructure requires.

How it works and what we assess

IT equipment produces heat continuously. Depending on the architecture, air or a liquid circuit carries heat to a heat exchanger. If the design uses chilled water, the chiller removes heat from the circuit and releases it outdoors.

How the system works

  1. Capture IT heat

Adapt the solution to the air or liquid cooling architecture specified by the project.

  2. Transport it

Heat exchangers and circuits carry heat toward the cooling plant.

  3. Maintain conditions

Evaluate controls and backup equipment with the continuity strategy.

Why these systems are used

Process chillers ↗

Can supply chilled water when compatible with the temperatures and IT cooling architecture.

Air handling units ↗

An option for systems requiring conditioned air distribution; coordinate with data center equipment and layout.

Our recommendation

Begin with the IT thermal architecture and availability target. Nominal capacity alone does not define a data center cooling solution.

Before selection

  • Specify current load, expected growth and IT equipment design conditions.
  • Coordinate flow rates, water quality, temperatures and controls across suppliers.
  • Define redundancy, maintenance and fault response with the project lead.
